Auch wenn eher die Golden Globes dafür bekannt sind, als Stimmungsbarometer für die kommende Oscar-Verleihung zu gelten, so darf man nicht den „Britischen Oscar“, die BAFTA-Verleihung, außer Acht lassen. Rund 6500 Mitglieder umfasst die British Academy of Film and Television Arts (kurz BAFTA). In etwa ein Drittel davon sind auch Teil der Oscar-Akademie (AMPAS).
