Vor wenigen Stunden wurden die Screen Actors Guild Awards vergeben. Das Besondere daran, die Schauspieler voten für die Preise untereinander und bilden die mit Abstand größte Voting-Gruppe der Academy für die Oscars am 26.02.2017. Wer also hier einen so genannten „Actor“ absahnt, der ist mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit auch späterer Oscarpreisträger. Überraschend hier für viele der Sieg von Denzel Washington (Fences) über Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea). Man beachte Denzel hat vorher nie einen „Actor“ erhalten, allerdings zwei Oscars. Das er Oscar Nr. 03 vor Casey erhalten wird, darf demnach noch in Stein gemeiselt gelten – aber man weiß nie, vor allem weil „die Academy“ tendenziell dazu neigt eher eine „lautere“ Performance auszuzeichnen und die hat eindeutig Denzel und nicht Casey.
